A note from Stuart Zadel

5 September 2008

Dear Friend,

You don't have to climb a mountain or head into the desert to have a spiritual awakening; all you have to do is jump on a flight to Adelaide!

Well at least that's my experience this past weekend at our first ever Think and Grow Rich Event in Australia's City of Churches, Adelaide.

Let me share with you, anyone in that room this past weekend witnessed something very special, in fact I would call it a unique phenomena one could only liken to a spiritual awakening.

The information, education and inspiration shared was right on the money, and the overwhelming generosity of the Adelaide people has left a lasting impression on all of us here at Think and Grow Rich.

One example of this is two of our great participants below, Sam and Melina of Caffe Vagabondo were so inspired by the event they kindly offered to have our entire team for breakfast the next morning, free of charge. Below are some photo's at Caffe Vagabondo where we were also joined by several other inspired participants. Be sure to visit Sam and Melina at 41 O'Connell St, North Adelaide when you go to Adelaide and I can highly recommend the pancakes.

My visit to Adelaide has inspired this week's success tip below. Check it out...

"The watchword of the future will be Human Happiness and Contentment, and when this state of mind shall have been attained, the production will take care of itself, more effectively than anything that has ever been accomplished where people did not, and could not mix faith and individual interest with their labour."

Weekly Success Tip

When it comes to making money, there are two paths you can follow.

One is to follow your head, the other is to follow your heart...

...and the truth is it doesn't really matter which you choose, both can work.

However, the difference is, one leads only to financial freedom, the other to total fulfillment. Next week I will expand on both of these two paths, but for now, I want to talk about fulfillment and what you would do if you had all the money you want and need.

You see, I'm encouraged every time I see Australian's not just wanting to make some money, but more importantly, make a difference. In fact, when I ask the question "How many of you want to make a difference?" at one of my events, more than 85% of any audience will put their hand up to say 'yes' I don't just want the money for me, I want it to do more good in the world.

The great news is that you and I don't have to wait until we get more money to do lots of good. Sure, with greater financial means I believe you can be of more service to other people, but the truth is, you and I have so much power to do good for others, you can start today.

How? Simple...

'Pay It Forward'

This phrase comes from the movie by the same name, and it means that rather than pay someone back when they do you a favour, you 'pay it forward'.

You see, paying someone back closes the loop when the obligation is met. Rather than closing the loop, paying it forward means to perpetuate and expand the loop, to do more good, not just once but three times or more.

The idea is that each day you deliberately set out to do something good for someone, without compensation and if and when they offer to pay you back, you instead ask them to pay it forward. Now this good deed can be as little as giving someone else your parking space or letting them step in line ahead of you if they are obviously in a rush. It could even be paying for the train fare for the person in the line behind you and walking off or giving someone a gift of some kind anonymously.

It could be...well you get the idea.

Now of course, you may be wondering 'Why on earth would you want to do this?' Well, I suppose I could say this kind of thinking creates a better, more humane world where we care more for each other and help each other, however your understanding of it would be very superficial if you left it here.

Instead I suggest you actually give it a go for a week or so and see what it means to you on a deeper level.

Action Step:

a. Watch the movie Pay It Forward

b. Think how you can carry out an act of kindness or generosity for someone and do it.
If you get the chance, tell them to Pay It Forward
